The Parkinson Association of the Rockies has been serving the Rocky Mountain community for over 25 years. Formed in 1981, PAR is considered a valuable resource for those with the disease and to those who care for them. PAR provides a myriad of direct care services including 30 support groups, in-home case assessment and exercise instruction, and an information and referral hotline. Educational literature and seminars provide information on every aspect of the disease, including medications, common treatments and caregiver tips. Our equipment loan program consists of specialized durable medical equipment available to the member at no cost.
PAR's future programming includes expansion to regions in the state which are currently underserved. Your contributions will help us realize these opportunities to reach more people with the disease.
- While we have over 33 support groups throughout Colorado, Wyoming and western Nebraska, there are pockets in rural communities who would benefit from receiving additional support.
- We are currently exploring opportunities in other areas of the state where we can house much-needed specialized medical equipment to make it available to our more remote members.
- PAR's case management team makes PAR the only organization in the country to offer in-home visits. Currently limited to metro Denver, we will provide this unique service to other areas of Colorado by the end of 2010, and hope to serve Wyoming and Nebraska shortly after.
