Artful Expressions Monday, October 15, 2012, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM Artful Expressions will begin this fall in the Denver Metro area! Art activities will include painting, collage, oil pastels and mixed media.
Creative activities have been found to be of therapeutic value for people living with Parkinson’s disease. The benefits of group artistic activities include a non-verbal means of expression, improved fine motor skills and concentration, relaxation, stress reduction, group camaraderie and social interaction as well as a sense of accomplishment. Artful Expressions classes are designed specifically with PD in mind.
“When I am making art, I am not focused on my disease or its symptoms such as tremors or dyskinesia. I feel relaxed and peaceful when I am so focused on creating new images.” - Kris Krishnan from Art as Therapy for Parkinson’s Disease by Harriet Wadeson, PhD, ATR-BC, HLM, LCSW.
