During the program, Dr. Benzi Kluger will discuss Common Health Issues & Parkinson’s. He will highlight common concerns and how to address them. You will also learn how to advocate for your health.

Erica DeMarch will discuss Functional Exercise. Erica will explain the different kinds of exercise and what research shows is important. She will discuss nueroplasticity and the effects it has on our brain.

Dr. Benzi Kluger
Benzi Kluger, MD, MS is an Assistant Professor of Neurology and Psychiatry and the Director of the Interdisciplinary Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Laboratory at the University of Colorado Denver. He specializes in the care of people living with movement disorders, including Parkinson’s disease, as well as people with cognitive or memory issues.

His research focuses on better understanding the causes of non-motor symptoms in Parkinson’s disease and developing improved treatments. He currently has funding from the Michael J. Fox Foundation, National Institutes of Health and Department of Defense to determine the changes in brain activity associated with fatigue and memory problems in Parkinson’s disease. He is currently running a clinical trial to test the effectiveness of acupuncture for Parkinson’s Disease fatigue.

Erica DeMarch, PT
Erica DeMarch, PT graduated from Boston with a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy. While there, she gained extensive experience and interest in neurologic rehabilitation as well as experience in acute, inpatient, outpatient and home care settings. Erica is trained in PWR (Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery) Exercise 4 Brain Change. She is certified in vestibular rehabilitation and in the treatment and management of adults with hemiplegia from stroke and brain injury. She currently teaches the BEAT High Intensity Classes with the Parkinson Association and speaks locally at support groups on the benefit of exercise.
