Movement can help alleviate symptoms and build strength

Did you know exercise is one of the best ways to slow down the progression and ease the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease? Exercise is well known for building muscle strength, alleviating depression and improving balance and stamina. For someone with Parkinson’s Disease, exercise can ease recurring symptoms such as dystonia (a neurological movement disorder in which sustained muscle contractions cause twisting and repetitive movements or abnormal postures), tremors, depression and even speech. Studies suggest physical activity might help protect neurons in the brain from the ongoing damage of Parkinson's disease.
