Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Yampa Valley Parkinson’s Support Network

A group of Steamboat Springs residents gathered together in 2012 at the encouragement of Ralph Dittman, MD. As a person diagnosed with Parkinson’s, he knew the value of group support for others with the diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease (PD). He was joined by several other people with PD (PWP) and their care partners (CP) and all agreed. They wanted to share their experience, learn from one another and from professionals who treat PD.

The first meeting was held in July 2012, with more than 20 people. Monthly meetings have continued with a wide variety of speakers presenting at each meeting. Without a speaker, the group enjoys the opportunity to share stories and experiences. More and new people join us every month.

This idea of Ralph Dittman has become a dynamic group of people who have organized many activities and events to share. Membership is free and open to anyone who has PD, their Care Partners, friends or anyone else interested in participating.

We currently have a list of nearly 50 members and a growing list of professionals who have talked to our group. We have had movement disorder specialists (Neurologists who specialize in PD treatment), a psychiatrist, exercise specialists, a dance instructor for PD, pharmacists, and more. Both lists keep growing!

Welcome to the Yampa Valley Parkinson Support Network (YVPSN) in Steamboat Springs! Since 2012, we have been working together to provide support, camaraderie, education and dynamic activities for People with Parkinson’s (PWP) and their Care Partners in the Yampa Valley. Our members include Yampa Valley locals as well as folks visiting from all over the country. All are encouraged and welcome – our members are what make YVPSN thrive!

Monthly support group meetings are a chance to join together to learn from professionals like Physical Therapists and Movement Disorder Specialists, and to socialize and share pertinent information amongst ourselves. Our amazing and varied activities and social gatherings are a result of the passion and dedication of group members. Please see our Activities page for further information.

In July 2015, YVPSN partnered with the Parkinson Association of the Rockies (PAR). This allows YVPSN to utilize PAR’s non-profit status. All YVPSN classes are free of charge as a result of this partnership. Donations from participants (if possible) are encouraged in order to provide ongoing support for these classes.
